Relay For Our Water - Lake Phalen

Relay For Our Water is focused on their commitment to the water through celebration, expression of gratitude, and actions to protect it.

This water relay was guided by Anishinaabe leaders who face immediate threats of disruption from the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline and whose traditional ways are deeply connected to the water, or “Nibi" in Ojibwemowin. Lower Phalen Creek Project participated in this one leg of the relay, carrying the water around Lake Phalen on its journey from the headwaters to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and State Capitol in Saint Paul. This leg of the relay was led by Dakota women in support of their Anishinaabe relatives to the north. All communities were welcome to join to pray for our water, or "Mni" in Dakodiapi.
