No More Stolen Sisters On Stolen Land!
Updated: Jul 28, 2020
With no notice nor involvement to local Native leader "Rep. Mary Kunesh-Podein, co-chair of a state task force that's been working for more than a year on the epidemic of missing and murdered Native women"*, Ivanka Trump traveled to Minnesota to promote Native justice. "Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, a member of the White Earth Nation of Ojibwe, slammed the president for doing so little to promote the health and safety of Native Americans 'while demonstrating and celebrating behavior that perpetuates violence against Native women and girls'".*
*all quotes above from Star Tribune article
Per the event description:
"Ivanka Trump thinks she can come to MN for a photo op for a movement she has never advocated for. The Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls movement has been led by our women and we are proud that Mary Kunesh-Podein authored the bill. This work has been long and hard fought and it does not need a white savior.
Please show up at the BIA in Bloomington to show solidarity in our MMIW and support our local womxn. This event will be a rally/ silent sit-in in the BIA building for the opening of the new office. Please be respectful of the ceremony and practice social distancing."
